Frequently Asked Questions:

What is Chiropractic?

Chiropractic is a hands-on treatment method that addresses issues of the musculoskeletal system. It is used to treat various conditions, such as back pain, neck pain, extremity pain, sciatica, headaches, and more. Chiropractic is a drug-free approach to pain relief and involves creating a comprehensive, customized care plan based upon the patient’s condition. Your treatment plan may include spinal manipulation, physical therapy, at-home stretches and exercises, and more. Our goal is to help patients get rid of their symptoms, gain back full function and mobility, and enjoy a greater quality of life.

Are chiropractic adjustments safe for me?

Chiropractic adjustments are extremely safe. You may experience some soreness or stiffness after your first adjustment, but this should go away after a day or two. Serious risks are rare. If you have any concerns, please speak to your chiropractor before starting treatment.

Will my health insurance cover chiropractic?

Most health insurance plans cover chiropractic care in the same way that they cover any other specialty care provider. For more information about your plan’s specific benefits, contact your insurance company. At your first appointment, we will verify your coverage with your insurance provider.

Once I start chiropractic treatment, will I have to keep coming back indefinitely?

No. Most patients only need care for a certain period of time, which we will determine when we create your treatment plan. However, some patients choose to continue receiving adjustments because it improves their health and how they feel.

Should I tell my primary care doctor that I’m going to a chiropractor?

Because we are committed to providing an integrated, patient-centric approach to care, we recommend that our patients tell their primary care providers that they are going to a chiropractor. We believe that good communication amongst a patient’s healthcare providers is important for optimal outcomes. We will forward a copy of your initial evaluation to your primary care physician. We will contact your physician and any other specialty care provider should the need arise.

What creates the “popping” noise during adjustments?

Often, but not always, spinal adjustments create a “popping” sound due to popping of gas bubbles in the synovial spinal fluid. This sound occurs because the adjustment creates a vacuum. However, not all adjustments result in an audible sound, and a treatment can be effective even when no popping is heard.
